Porcelain Crowns
Crowns, also called caps, are restorations that look and function just like natural teeth. A crown completely covers the tooth and fits snugly at the gum. There are many situations in which a crown may be appropriate such as when a tooth has decayed to the point where it cannot hold a filling, or if a tooth is cracked or broken and in danger of further breakage down to the root.
Crowns can be made from metal or porcelain. Porcelain crowns can be made to look just like the surrounding teeth so the restoration is virtually invisible. Also, old metal crowns can be replaced with new porcelain crowns that will look better and last longer.
